Raúl González Blanco, Raúl said, is a Spanish international footballer born June 27, 1977 in Madrid, who plays as a striker for German club Schalke 04.
Considered the best Spanish player and one of the best players in football history, Raul is best known as the iconic number 7 and captain of Real Madrid that he will leave in 2010 after sixteen years at the club . He holds the record for most games played (741) and goals scored for "merengue" (323). It is also the top scorer of all time in the Champions League with 71 goals, competition he won three times and the top scorer in the Spanish league activity.
With 44 goals, he spent eight years as top scorer in the history of the Spanish before David Villa will beat his record March 25, 2011 against the Czech Republic.
It is the only player to have won three times as the best striker of the year by UEFA (1999/2000, 2000/2001, 2001/2002).
In private life, Raúl is married to former model Mamen Sanz from Spain June 30, 1999, and is the father of four boys and a girl: Jorge, Hugo, Hector Mateo and Maria.
Childhood and Beginnings  Raul Gonzalez grew up in a modest family in Colonia Marconi, San Cristobal de Los Angeles, a poor neighborhood of Madrid. Here he began playing football in 1988. A few years later, his father enrolled in the youth teams of Atlético Madrid, his family being staunch supporters of the club. In his first season, the position of left winger, he scored 65 goals and won the championship of Spain minimal. Cadets spent the following year he was champion again.
